Emergency dental care for low income adults


Emergency dental services for low income adults provided on a Friday morning at Rangiatea Clinic, South Road in Spotswood, New Plymouth.

This service is provided by a dentist from the Taranaki DHB Dental Unit. This service is for the provision of immediate services necessary for the relief of pain and infection. There is a part user charge per visit if criteria are reached. A part user charge will apply to all treatments (payable on the day) of $40 per person.

The service provides emergency dental care to adults aged 18 years or older with a Community Services Card.

Appointments can be made by contacting the Rangiatea Community Oral health Clinic on 06 751 3507.
Winz quotes will not be provided or accepted – please see your private dentist for these.

Weekends and public holidays

If you need emergency care in the weekends and public holidays phone 06 753 7866.
This is for emergency care only.

It is recommended that you phone between 10am and 12noon. This applies to weekends and public holidays only, not to after hours during the week.
On weekends private charges will apply and there may be a surcharge as well.

After hours (during the week)

  • Contact your own dentist.
  • Serious trauma (e.g jaw fractures)  or serious dental conditions (uncontrolled bleeding or swellings in the mouth)  are dealt with in the Emergency Department and by the On  call hospital dental surgeon
