Hospital visiting hours
To help protect our vulnerable patients and our staff, please respect our new visitor policy. As of 14 May 2020 the following visitor policy applies:
VISITORS POLICY - ALERT LEVEL 2
As we move through alert levels the health and safety of our patients and staff is vital. We continue to minimise the numbers of people coming into our hospitals to reduce the opportunity for any infections to spread. Please respect our current visitor policy which is in place at Taranaki DHB facilities.
In Alert Level 2 patients in hospital are allowed to have two nominated visitors (one at a time please and preferably between 2pm and 8pm), with no suspicion of COVID-19. People with an outpatient appointment may bring in one support person if necessary.
Note: The manager and lead clinician may approve exceptions eg compassionate grounds or adult with small child. A maximum of two visitors may be allowed at these times.
Formal visiting hours are in place, unless by prior arrangement with the ward manager.
When visiting a patient it is important that all visitors follow alert level 2 precautions:
- Ensure you are healthy and well
- Use the hand sanitiser around the hospital to keep hands clean
- Sneeze or cough into a tissue or your elbow
- Keep a physical distance of 2 metres from staff and patients
- Visitors must all be signed in on arrival for contact tracing if necessary.
