What to Pack

Some ideas of what to bring with you to hospital when you give birth

For yourself:

  • Sanitary Pads (initial pack provided of 10)
  • Coffee/Tea mug
  • Snacks e.g. muesli bars, fruit, crackers, muffins
  • Money - We have vending machines for snacks and drinks available in Maternity and there is a daily cafe trolley on ward at approximately 10am – this takes cash and eftpos.
  • Reading and Writing material (book/magazine, pad/pen to write list of visitors/gifts brought, and thank you notes)
  • iPad, iPod, cellphone and appropriate chargers (laptops can take up a lot of room)
  • Good supply of cotton underpants
  • Your own pillow/duvet if you wish
  • Breastfeeding/tri-pillow
  • Breast pads
  • Comfortable clothes for breastfeeding
  • Night attire/footwear
  • Toiletries (a towel and hospital body wash is provided)
  • The all important camera
  • Nappies for baby
  • Formula, bottles, and teats if you plan to formula-feed

To take your baby home:

  • Baby clothes (initial woollies/wrap and cot linen provided only)
  • Car Seat (BY LAW a baby must travel in a safety approved car seat)
  • Wrap
  • Blanket
  • Nappies

We recommend you leave any valuables at home. We accept no responsibility for personal property.
