Health Equity Assessment
Taranaki Public Health Unit is committed to creating a fairer society where everyone has the opportunity for good health and where our healthcare system meets the needs and aspirations of Māori. Eliminating health outcome differences which are unnecessary and avoidable, but in addition considered unfair and unjust is a core theme of all of our work.
A key strategy we use is applying the Ministry of Health’s Health Equity Assessment Tool (HEAT) to our own programmes, and supporting Te Whatu Ora Taranaki and other agencies to integrate the use of HEAT into service planning, development and evaluation. For more information on our Health Equity Assessment work, please contact Sara Knowles – sara.knowles@tdhb.org.nz
