Health Workforce NZ Hauora Māori Training Fund

The HWNZ Hauora Māori scholarships are available to upskill the unregulated workforce by way of obtaining qualification levels 1 – 7 on the NZQA Framework. Historically the scholarships have not been available to the Mental Health sector. From 2017 that restriction has been removed and the funding is now available to the unregulated Mental Health and Addiction workforce. The presentation was made by Pahia Turia who facilitated a Whanau Ora concept hui called by Te Whare Punanga Korero and held at Owae Marae, Waitara on 1 June. Taranaki was the only/first place in the country that had taken the initiative to bring Māori together from iwi, providers, funders and whanau to discuss what Whānau Ora might look like in Taranaki.
