Operating Theatre, PACU2 and Endoscopy Suite

The Operating Theatre, PACU2 and Endoscopy Suite includes six theatres, a pre and post operative area, two endoscopy rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).

The service includes the PACU2 (Surgical Day Ward and Day Procedure Unit), the Endoscopy Unit, and the Sterile Services Department.

The theatres provide a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week service and cover general and laparoscopic surgery, orthopaedic and trauma, vascular, gynaecology and obstetrics, urology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ORL/ENT), maxillo-facial and dental surgery.  In addition the theatre suite provides an out of hours and acute endoscopy service.

Hours

Theatres: are fully staffed Monday to Friday from 8am - 4.30pm, with one team working from 12.30 - 8.30pm. On weekends and public holidays there is one team working 8.30am - 4.30pm. Outside of these hours there is an on-call team.

PACU2: are fully staffed Monday to Friday from 7am - 8pm.

Endoscopy: are fully staffed Monday to Friday from 8am - 4.30pm.

Enter through the main entrance at Base Hospital. The Operating Theatre and Endoscopy Suite is located straight ahead on the same level.
