LabCare - hospital service

The Labcare pathology service operates out of Taranaki Base Hospital and Hawera Hospital.

Both laboratories provide an extensive range of diagnostic testing in biochemistry, Blood Bank, haematology and microbiology. cytology and histopathology services are provided by Taranaki Medlab. Specialist testing and advice is provided by staff at Canterbury District Health Board and the New Zealand Blood Service in Waikato.

Staff are available at both sites for the provision of inpatient and outpatient blood collection.

The Taranaki Base Hospital laboratory is located on the third floor of the main hospital block and is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week facility for inpatient specimen analysis. It is open to the public from 7:30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, and after hours by arrangement.

Hawera Hospital laboratory is located in the hospital building and is open to the public from 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday. For assistance after hours on-call staff are available.
