Seven active COVID-19 cases in Taranaki

Today there are four new COVID-19 cases to report in Taranaki.

One is a household contact of a previously reported case in New Plymouth and the other three are known close contacts of the previously reported case in Hāwera. This brings the region’s total number of active cases to seven.

Taranaki DHB’s COVID-19 response manager, Gillian Campbell, says the new cases have been in isolation since they became close contacts.

“If there are any additional locations of interest identified these will be published on the Ministry of Health’s website.

“Three of the cases were identified after the reporting cut-off and will be officially reported in the Ministry’s case tally tomorrow.”

There are three locations of interest in Taranaki and details of these have been added to the Ministry of Health’s website:

  • TummyMate General Store, New Plymouth, Tuesday 25 Jan, 3-3:30pm
  • Burger Fuel New Plymouth, indoor seating and takeaway customers, Tuesday 25 Jan, 2-3pm
  • Flight NZ5049, Auckland to New Plymouth, Wednesday 19 Jan, 7:50-8:30pm

Mrs Campbell reminds everyone if they have cold or flu-like symptoms get tested immediately.
