Rural COVID-19 vaccination clinic to go on tour
20 September 2021
The rural outreach team from the Taranaki COVID-19 Vaccination programme are pulling on their gummies in preparation to visit some of Taranaki’s most rural towns.
They are taking their mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic on a round-the-mountain tour of 14 rural community halls during September and October.
Bevan Clayton-Smith, Taranaki COVID-19 Vaccination programme senior responsible officer, said “Bringing the opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccination to the heart of our rural communities is an important part of the programme roll-out.
“We know that it can be hard to get off the farm, particularly during the busy time of calving, so having local clinics will mean less time away from that essential work.
“Making sure our dairy farmers receive the best protection against the COVID-19 virus is not only vital for them, their families and their community, but also for the economy of the region and country as a whole.”
Bookings are being encouraged for those who may have limited time, but walk-ins are also welcome if people find themselves with a spare half-an-hour and want to get vaccinated.
Appointments can be booked online at bookmyvaccine.nz, or by calling 0800 28 29 26 (8am-8pm, 7 days).
