14 February 2014
A workshop on Taming those Toddlers will be held in Manaia on Wednesday for parents and caregivers of under five year olds. 19 February 10.30am-12pm
Nga Kete Hauora is a series of workshops coordinated by Taranaki DHB Public Health Unit in conjunction with Ngaruahine Iwi Health Service for parents on a range of health topics. Parents in Patea, Opunake and Manaia are filling their basket with knowledge and skills to keep their whanau healthy.
The workshops began in 2012 because local parents identified a need for health information and support to keep their families healthy. Nutrition, budgeting, parenting and cooking came up frequently as topic ideas.
Taranaki DHB Health Promoter Tasheena Potaka said the workshops have been very popular and are informal and friendly forums.
“We held this particular Toddler Taming workshop in Opunake last year and many people travelled to it so we decided to hold one in Manaia this year,” she said.
“The facilitator Angevahn is a fantastic presenter and our feedback about her messages and skills has been very positive.”
