The new Hawera Community Oral Health Service officially opens on Monday, taking their first patient that afternoon.

Taranaki DHB clinical services manager Leigh Cleland said the clinic is co-located at the hospital with its own entrance, reception area, waiting areas and car park, has been completely refurbished.

“It has had new state of the art equipment fitted and will be an accessible, functioning and pleasant clinic for children and their whanau to receive dental care.“

“It is looking fantastic and will see, treat and educate over 2500 children every year.

The COHS is complementing the new mobile dental units that are operating around the South Taranaki area.

“The adult dental service at Hawera Hospital will continue as it was before the refurbishment, the team are looking forward to working out of and caring for their patients in the new facility,” said Mrs Cleland.

Media are invited to attend the opening at 10am on Monday, March 4th.
