Nominations now open for TDHB Maternity Quality Committee

Call for nominations for the Taranaki District Health Board Maternity Quality Committee (closing date: 26 October 2012)

The Taranaki District Health Board (TDHB) Maternity Quality Committee (MQC) is to be inaugurated on Tuesday 11 December 2012. This committee will meet on a monthly basis to oversee quality improvement, quality assurance and risk management activities within TDHB Maternity services.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Support the Maternity Service, the Taranaki Clinical Board and multidisciplinary clinical teams to monitor and manage standards of clinical care to ensure they are of a high quality.
  • To require, support and facilitate formal clinical governance and clinical practice improvement processes in Taranaki DHB.
  • To monitor and review Maternity systems, standards, indicators and outcomes which reflect the quality of clinical care provided within the service.
  • To monitor and oversee regional and local activities associated with:
    • The national Maternity Quality and Safety Programme
    • The national Maternity Standards
    • Maternity service specifications
  • To provide a forum in which decision making and responsibilities for the quality of Maternity care are shared between clinicians and managers.
  • To report these activities to the Taranaki Clinical Board.
  • To manage the risks of Maternity care.

This committee requires multidisciplinary representation including Consumers, Lead Maternity Carers, Obstetricians, Maternity stakeholders as well as Core Midwifery.

Individuals should be nominated by a professional or recognised community organisation and be nominated to represent the respective colleges or community groups.

Representation from a wide range of professions and community groups is desired. However membership will be restricted to approximately 15 people for functionality purposes. Nominations may represent individual or multiple professional or community groups and invited from (but not limited to) the following professional or community groupings:

  • Consumers
  • Maori
  • Asian
  • Obstetrics
  • Pacific
  • Maternal Mental Health
  • Rural
  • Midwifery (LMC and Core)
  • General Practice team
  • Tamariki Ora
  • Teenage Groups
  • Community Health Worker
  • Allied Health
  • Breastfeeding Groups
