Family Violence Intervention Programme Training 2013

This training programme for health professionals is based on the strategy set out in the Ministry of Health Family Violence Intervention Guidelines - Child and Partner Abuse, 2002. It emphasises the health effects of family violence appropriate to a wide variety of health settings e.g. in and out-patient, mental health, emergency departments, maternity, sexual health, child health etc.

The key training objective is to assist clinical staff to use the 6 Step Brief Intervention Process as specified in the Ministry of Health Guidelines and DHB Family Violence Intervention Policy and Procedures in order to identify, support, assess risk, provide safety planning and referrals for victims of partner abuse and/or child abuse who present to hospital and to document appropriately.

This training will also cover Professional Ethics for health clinicians.
