Surgical Outpatients Department

The Surgical Outpatients Department is located near the maternity entrance at Taranaki Base Hospital.

Patients are booked into clinics to see consultants prior to or following surgery.

The department includes gynaecology, colposcopy, general surgery, orthopaedic, urology, dermatology, minor ops, and nurse clinics.

Clinics by visiting specialists include monthly neurosurgery and plastics.

Upstairs are clinics for pre-admission and anaesthetists appointments and the ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinics.

Appointments

It is really important that you attend your appointment. Often our waitlists are very long and if people do not attend their appointment, it is an unused spot which could have been used by another person.

If you are not able to attend the appointment you have been given, please let us know so we can allocate your appointment to someone else and give you another time.

Failure to attend without notification will mean you are no longer on the waiting list and you will have to go back to your GP and start again.

When you do arrive for your appointment please go to reception.

Surgical Outpatients is best accessed via the David Street Entrance (Gate 1).
Enter at the Maternity Entrance, turn right and Surgical Outpatients Department is located on your first right.
