Podiatry

Taranaki DHB podiatry secondary services (hospital) are available for people with active foot complications or high-risk feet, particularly those with diabetes.

Eligible people receive TDHB funded assessment and treatments provided in the community at one of the following three private podiatry practices:

Service Details

Referrals are accepted from GPs, specialist consultants, hospital departments and community agencies. Referrals should be sent to the Taranaki Base Hospital Referral Centre.  

Once the persons needs have been prioritised, he/she will be contacted by one of the above podiatry services and an appointment arranged.

There may be a charge to the patient if orthoses or other aids are required.
On arrangement, inpatients with urgent podiatry needs may be seen in the ward.
Once a persons condition improves they are discharged from the TDHB funded service.
