About Us

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki operates two physiotherapy clinics at Taranaki Base Hospital and Hāwera Hospital.

They both have modern, comprehensive physiotherapy facilities. There are seven fully equipped treatment cubicles at Taranaki Base Hospital, including one private room. Hawera Hospital has three fully equipped private rooms.

The clinics both feature spacious gymnasiums with a hydrotherapy pool also available at Taranaki Base Hospital.

We pride ourselves on our close ties with the broader health service, including GPs, consultants, along with inpatient and outpatient staff from Te Whatu Ora Taranaki and the private sector.

We are a university teaching department with a yearly intake of students from Auckland Institute of Technology (AUT).

The physiotherapy outpatient services are provided under both Ministry of Health and ACC physiotherapy services, and are certified against NZS 8171.

ACC contracts include physiotherapy services; pain management services; training for independence; social rehab assessments and hand therapy.
