Te Whatu Ora Taranaki offers a range of secondary services for type 1 and 2 diabetes. Patient services include:

  • Specialist doctors
  • Clinical nurse specialists
  • Dieticians
  • Podiatry services
  • Psychology services

Most of your diabetes care should be provided by your general practitioner/primary care provider. However you may be referred to these services if you require further support or treatment.

Your appointment

Please bring the following to any diabetes appointment:

  • Your recent blood glucose results in your record book
  • Your blood glucose meter and recording book
  • An up to date list of your medications
  • If you have an insulin pump or flash glucose device ensure you have undertaken a recent download
