Surgical Day Ward/Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU2)

Before you have your surgery, you will come in for a pre-admission appointment. You would have received an appointment from our Booking Office which will have instructions on preparing for your operation, for example when to stop eating.

At your pre-admission appointment you may receive more information specific to your operation.

On the afternoon or early evening of the working day prior to your surgery you will receive a phone call from nursing staff in the Day Ward. The nurse will advise you what time to arrive for your appointment and discuss your preoperative instructions. If you have not received a call by 6pm on the working day prior to your surgery please contact the Day Ward nurses on 06 753 6139 ext 8075.

Day of Surgery patients come back to the Surgical Day Ward (PACU2) and are cared for there until they are discharged.

Enter through the main entrance at Base Hospital. The Surgical Day Ward (PACU2) is located straight ahead and through the doors on the right on the same level.
