Follow the Green Feet and Grab the Health Choice

5 February 2014

Choosing healthy food for your kids just became even more fun at 4Square45 in Opunake, with the beginning of the ‘Green Feet’ campaign for 2014. 4Square45 in conjunction with the Taranaki District Health Board have been running the ‘Green Feet’ project for the past year and will once again run the promotion for the whole of February.

With school starting up again and families shopping for school lunches, the ‘Green Feet’ project prompts parents to consider healthier options for their whanau. TDHB health promoter, Hinenui Bryant says “Children love to follow the feet and we know the ‘GRAB ME’ shelf talkers prompt people to buy healthier food options, so this time we are specifically promoting lunchbox options”. Recipes from previous ‘Green Feet’ promotions and general information on making lunchboxes healthier can also be found on www.tdhb.org.nz and searching ‘Green Feet’.

Last year, food and nutrition workshops were held with children attending Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Tamarongo and Opunake Primary School. “Children DO enjoy eating healthy, especially when they are involved in choosing the food, cooking and preparing it. Eating well at school also leads to better educational outcomes – children are nourished and can focus!” says Miss Bryant.

New owners Karen Ramsay and Murray Gray have recently moved to Opunake and wanted to continue with the programme. “We want to make it easy for our customers to select healthy options for lunchboxes. Buying healthy food can benefit our waistlines and our wallets!” says Miss Ramsay.

Opunake 4Square45 are also running a competition for all those who purchase ‘Green Feet’ healthy choices during February with four chances to win a $50 4Square45 voucher. Competition details will be available in store.
