Taranaki DHB is moving ahead with both Project Maunga Stage Two and the Seismic Risk Management Plan (SRMP). Project Maunga will see the construction of the New East Wing Building (NEWB), a 20,000m2, six-storey building housing Renal Unit many of Taranaki Base Hospital’s acute clinical services including ED, ICU, Maternity, Primary Birthing, Neonatal, Radiology, Laboratory and a roof-top helipad. The SRMP will see the construction of a new Renal Unit, Energy Centre, Computer Room as well as an upgrade to critical site wide infrastructure and the demolition of the C-Block (where Renal currently is).

Climate Change Minister James Shaw announces clean energy projects

The Minister for Climate Change was in Porirua this afternoon to announce a range of new clean energy projects in schools, tertiary institutions, and hospitals.
The government pledged last year that it would be carbon neutral by 2025.
Projects announced today are part of that effort, and will remove around 26,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 10 years.
