
Stratford Health Centre
Stratford Health Centre's premises were formally opened by the Prime Minister Helen Clark in August 2000. Architects Dickson Lonergan won an award for the Stratford Health Centre, which the judges commended as "a beautifully crafted piece of architecture. This building combines the specific clients' requirements with a wider social and aesthetic responsibility." The health centre was built on the site of the old Stratford Hospital and includes Physiotherapy and X-Ray services.
Outpatient clinics are held on a regular basis and include Nutrition and Dietetics, Diabetes Education, Asthma Education Cervical Screening, Alcohol & Drug Counselling, Vision/Hearing Testing, Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, Paediatrics and Occupational Therapy. Clinics held by private practitioners include Podiatry, Ante Natal Classes, Hearing Association, Electroloysis, Food Bank and Counselling.
District Nursing cover extends to coastal Taranaki and Opunake. Stratford District Nursing includes palliative care nursing. The centre is open between 8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, and at weekends as required.
